What is Kaiser’s problem with men saying that they are objectified as well? It is not either/or. Women are objectified, men are objectified. Both men and women feel diminished and disrespected when it happens. They are people and want to be seen as persons, not bodies.
I am talking about this post
Matt Smith is #MeToo-ing: Men are objectified too, ‘it’s not exclusive’ to women
Kaiser says
“
I have an honest question: when men start #MeToo-ing in this particular way, does it ever feel like they’re derailing the conversation? Does it ever feel like someone saying “all lives matter” to Black Lives Matter? We know men and boys are victimized, and they have every right to tell their stories and be believed, the same as women. But… the patriarchy is real, you know?
“
As I said, it is not either/ or. Patriarchy doesn’t make it OK to silence men. Just support both men and women. Simple.
It is like Kaiser doesn’t know what to do when things are not black and white.
Kaiser mercilessly mocked Kit Harrington when he talked about it. And that has been a sore point with me since then because Harrington was absolutely right. He was being an ally and he was trying to relate to women’s experiences and for that he was mocked. Matt got a slightly better treatment because Kaiser seems to like him more.
